  • Usage

    Here are some simplified instructions for using the textured roller and some care tips:

    1. Thoroughly mix the putty/clay according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
    2. Apply the putty/clay to a smooth surface that you want to texture. For best results, ensure the surface is even before using the roller. We recommend using a regular roller to smooth the surface.
    3. To prevent the roller from sticking, you can lightly wet it, depending on the type of putty/clay being used.
    4. Slowly move the roller over the surface, applying even pressure to create a consistent texture.
    5. If there is any excess putty/clay, carefully trim it with a sharp knife after it has dried to avoid deformations.

    When it comes to materials, different types of putty and clay can be used with the appropriate techniques. Polymer clay, such as Fimo or Sculpey, is usually easy to work with using these rollers as it can be corrected before baking. For textured bases, we recommend using MDF bases as you can directly texture the polymer clay on an MDF base and then bake everything in the oven. MDF wood may emit a mild odor during baking, but this is normal and nothing to worry about.

    For epoxy putty, there are various techniques that yield similar results. They do not need to be baked and can be applied directly to plastic bases. When using Green Stuff putty, which can be sticky, you can lightly wet either the putty or the roller with water before texturing. You can also reduce stickiness by using talcum powder or Sculptor Vaseline.

    Other types of epoxy putty, such as Milliput, Magic Sculpt, or Aves Apoxie Sculpt, can also be used, but avoid over-wetting them as it may affect your work. If the mixture is too sticky, continue kneading until the stickiness disappears. Remember to clean the roller thoroughly after use, especially when working with epoxy putty.

    After using the roller, clean it carefully with a scraping brush and plenty of water to remove any residues if necessary.
